During the session, the Council issued a decision regarding the annual report of the Radio and Television Corporation for the fiscal year 1443/1444 AH, in which it called on the Radio and Television Corporation to develop a plan to reach the target segments of the audience and increase their percentage, according to a timetable that is reflected in raising its advertising revenue and approaching achieving the requirements of privatization.
The Council made its decision after listening to the point of view of the Media Committee, which was read by the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Fahd Al-Tayyash, regarding the members’ remarks and opinions that they expressed in a previous session regarding what was included in the annual report of the Radio and Television Corporation for the fiscal year 1443/1444 AH after it was put up for discussion.
Introducing the image of the Kingdom and highlighting its status
In its decision, the Council called on the Commission to develop a standard mechanism for selecting and producing distinguished programs internally or by contracting out, based on the objectives of defining the image of the Kingdom, highlighting its status, achieving public viewing rates and advertising sponsorship. The Shura Council also confirmed that the authority should prepare a plan to meet its building needs, in coordination with the General Authority for State Real Estate.
Interest in intangible cultural heritage
In another decision taken during the session, the Shura Council called on the Ministry of Culture to pay attention to the intangible cultural heritage of all regions of the Kingdom and to introduce it and its various styles locally, regionally and globally.
The Council made its decision after listening to the point of view of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, which was read by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Nasser Al-Deghaither, regarding the members’ remarks and opinions that they expressed in a previous session regarding what was included in the annual report of the Ministry of Culture for the fiscal year 1443/1444 AH, after it was presented for discussion.
In its decision, the Council called on the Ministry, represented by the Fashion Authority, to document the traditional costumes for each region of the Kingdom, display them and introduce them internally and externally.
A strategy for cultural diplomacy
The Council called on the Ministry to review the large number of committees to which it is affiliated, and to consider the possibility of assigning the work carried out by the committees to the executive departments. to perform its duties.
